Wood Coating Chemist
Nanochem Technologies, LLC, a dynamic industrial coatings manufacturing company is seeking an experienced degreed coatings chemist to join our technical team as a leader in wood coatings development. Primary formulation work to include UV cured coatings and waterborne coatings for professional and OEM wood applications. Also experience formulating nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquers, pre and post catalyzed lacquers, conversion varnishes, and hybrid chemistries in the OEM and production wood coatings segments is desirable.
The ideal candidate will work with the sales and technical staff to modify existing formulations for performance, cost and customer desired attributes, and develop new products for OEM, professional wood and specialty coatings markets. Must be able to troubleshoot field application issues and work with end users to engineer systems to their specifications.
The candidate must have a strong work ethic, take pride in his/her accomplishments, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to perform in a fast paced, high energy environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer chemistry or coatings chemistry.
- A minimum of 5 years real world coating formulation experience in one or many of the above listed chemistries.
- Real world application and troubleshooting experience with roll coaters, curtain coaters, air and airless sprayers and specialty application methods.
- Very strong computer and record keeping skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong technical writing / report writing skills
- Strong working relationship with raw material suppliers
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
- Ability to work individually and as a part of an aggressive, results-oriented team
- Color matching capability a plus
