Paint Formulation Chemist

Qualifications:
* BS in Science, Chemistry or equivalent
* 3-5+ years formulation development experience in the architectural coatings industry
* Knowledge of specialty acrylic resins, pigments and other raw materials in acrylic paints and specialty finishes markets
* Ability to resolve problems on a professional level
* Team player and self-starter
* Ability to hold confidential information
* Expert knowledge of Company's systems
* Strong figure aptitude and attention to detail - math skills, weights and measures
* Ability to understand and follow written and verbal communication
* Ability to maintain organization
* Proven history of above average attendance
* Desire to continuously improve skills and overall job knowledge to take on greater responsibilities through training both on the job as well as by external means

Duties:
* Research, identify and develop new technology, new raw materials or product opportunities consistent with Marketing direction and strategic plan of the company
* Expedite product development and improvement as required and assures quality control and corrections to product are performed on a timely basis including submittal of product status reports and ensuring all product performance stability tests are performed for all formulation changes and new products
* Qualify new raw materials for new products or for cost savings or quality improvements of existing products
* Work with production management regarding manufacturing and/or procedural process improvements for all products and recommend changes in procedures for development and testing of current or new products
* Maintain toxicity programs, labeling programs and any other industry and/or governmental programs and records associated with consumer product safety
* Interface with company artists for product testing or for comments during the product development process
* Work at the bench to conduct projects: Changes in raw materials, investigations, product modifications and product development in conformance with corporate design and developmental procedure
